AMERICAN FURNITURE WAREHOUSE OPENS ITS 11th COLORADO LOCATION IN FIRESTONE
Englewood, Colorado (November 6, 2006)…Today at 10:00AM, American Furniture Warehouse opened its doors to its eleventh Colorado location near Longmont, in the burgeoning city of Firestone. Built "green" with state-of-the-art environmentally-friendly construction elements, this new 530,000-square-foot Super Center, equal to nine-and-a-half football fields, is the largest of its kind in northern Colorado. With over $100,000 in prizes giveaways, including the fully-loaded 2006 Corvette Targa Coupe from Purifoy Chevrolet in Fort Lupton, the opening was greeted with much success.
"We are truly excited about this newest store opening. Firestone is one of the fastest-growing communities in Colorado and we are delighted to get in early and serve as a beacon for other businesses that will surely be joining us there soon," Jake Jabs, AFW's President and CEO, says. "American Furniture Warehouse Firestone-Longmont will give us a distribution point for our current and future customers in Northern Colorado that is much needed in light of the explosive growth in the state - particularly in that part of the state."
The showroom features a customer "self-service" level downstairs and a more traditionally designed furniture store layout upstairs. In addition to three escalators, two restaurants and a Mexican-style Cantina that will sell Rustico furniture and accessories, the new facility features many innovative ideas that will create a truly user-friendly experience.
The environmentally-friendly structure is important to Jake Jabs. "Over the years, it has become increasingly important to incorporate 'green' elements into the building process," says Jabs. "For our new location, we took careful steps to ensure that our business is not only good for our customers and for the community, but that it is good for the environment as well."
According to Jabs, when AFW told their best factories about the new store, they donated over $100,000 in prizes for the opening in support of the project, including a 2006 Corvette Targa Coupe completely customized by Purifoy Chevrolet. The body of the Corvette has been treated to a special red, white and blue paint scheme to reflect the heritage of AFW. For more details, please visit www.jakescorvette.com.
The $30 million project brings tremendous economic growth to the community of Firestone and AFW is one of the city's largest employer with more than 300 employees.
